The automated meter is our standard meter.
- Effective October 1, 2017, any residential customer who requests a non-standard meter at their home or service address will be charged a $50.00 upfront fee per meter exchange.*
- Effective November 1, 2017, residential customers who have a non-standard meter will be charged a $5.00 monthly fee on their bill for maintaining the non-standard meter.*
- Customers who have a non-standard meter will not be charged a meter exchange fee if they choose to get a standard meter.
- Residential customers with solar systems and business customers are not eligible for non-standard meters.
Additionally, customers with non-standard meters are ineligible for certain rate plans and other programs, and will not have access to the additional detailed data regarding their usage. To request a non-standard meter, please call 602-371-7171 (metro Phoenix) or 800-253-9405 (other areas).
*The non-standard meter fees do not apply to customers in remote locations where wireless technology is not available or automated metering equipment cannot otherwise be used.
