Veterans looking for work can face a variety of challenges. Great opportunities may be limited, the competition can be tough and it’s challenging to find an organization whose mission and vision are as important to our nation as the ones they defended abroad.
The energy industry also faces challenges. Over the next decade, more than 40% of the workforce will become eligible to retire. At the same time, we’re embracing new energy technologies, requiring new skills and seeking diverse employees united by a commitment to excellence.

troops to energy pilot program
We’re proud to be 1 of 5 investor-owned utilities across the country piloting a veteran’s employment initiative: Troops to Energy Jobs.
The pilot, developed by the National Center for Energy Workforce Development, features outreach, recruiting, counseling, education and training programs for veterans transitioning from active duty into civilian careers in the energy industry.
The goal is to link thousands of future job openings with veterans leaving military service, helping transition America’s heroes into careers in the energy industry.

Service members, veterans & their families are a vital part of our community and our economy. Through stronger partnership and collaboration, we will expand career growth opportunities to all who have served. ​​​

Founded by APS and USAA in 2016, the Arizona Corporate Council on Veteran Careers is focused on maximizing career opportunities for all service members, veterans and their family members statewide. The Council collaborates to identify best practices to attract transitioning service members while sharing programs within each organization that help retain and propel their veteran workforce to success.
