What you’ll do:
- Join the largest utility Pre-Apprenticeship Program in Arizona where you’ll be paid to learn to become a Journeyman Lineman/Substation Electrician/Polyphase Meterman/Auto Mechanics.
- Work outdoors in a team environment.
- Receive in-classroom and on-the-job training.
- Rotate within the organization and assist Journeyman with:
- Pre-Apprentice Linemen: various tasks including rigging, operating hydraulic tools, boom trucks and forklifts; running parts, ground work, driving bucket trucks, install poles, trenches, and working in confined spaces.
- Pre-Apprentice Substation Electrician: various tasks including repair/install/replace conduit, duct banks, and sweeps; building and maintaining electrical substations from 12kv to 500kv; rigging; operate hydraulic tools; operate boom truck & forklift; working from aerial lifts; install poles, trenches and working in confined spaces.
- Pre-Apprentice Polyphase Meterman: Learn and gain experience in the trade with KWH testing single phase meters, AMI meters and CT rated meter installations; install/replace single phase self-contained meters, perform dead meter checks on single phase meters and working in confined spaces.
- Pre-Apprentice Auto Mechanics: assist with vehicle inspections, diagnostics, and repairs while learning from our experienced Journeyman Mechanics. Your work will help keep vehicles running safely and efficiently, ensuring reliable transportation for our customers.

Make sure you meet these minimum requirements:
- Updated resume
- At least 18 years old
- High school diploma or GED
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Valid Class “A” Commercial Driver's License (CDL) **No mechanical restrictions i.e., airbrakes.

For Lineman and Substation Electrician candidates - a manual transmission endorsement is not required; however, you must have the full license (permit not accepted)

For Automotive Mechanic candidates - a manual transmission endorsement IS REQUIRED (a permit will be accepted upon application)

Pre-Apprentice Automotive Mechanic candidates

Must be enrolled or completed (Grade "C" or above) course work within the automotive curriculum from an accredited college, vocational technical school, vehicle manufacturer training.

One (1) year of suitable work experience in an Automotive/ Truck Repair Facility (must send documentation).

For Pre-Apprentice Lineman, Substation Electrician, and Polyphase Meterman candidates, successful completion of one of the following:
-
College level “Introduction to College Algebra” course (MAT-091 or equivalent) or higher with a grade of “C” or better. Must be from an accredited college (community college or 4 year institution) and college transcripts must be submitted.

Technical Math Course through any post high school construction, electrical, or automotive trade school or program (NJATC Technical Mathematics, Tech Mathematics, etc. )

College level “Introduction to College Algebra” or higher through a 3rd party non-accredited institution that provides ACE American Council of Education (ACE). Must pass according to ACE recommendation for earning college credit.

College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) College Algebra test with American Council of Education (ACE) recommended score of 50 or higher.

High School Advanced Placement (A.P.) Credit in Precalculus, Statistics, or Calculus - Needs to show A.P. test passed with a "3" or higher and High School Credit and provide a high school transcript with a grade of “C” or better

Successfully pass the EEI CAST B test (If you meet all requirements above, you will be invited to take the EEI CAST B test)
Hiring Process
- Selected candidates may be invited to take the EEI CAST-B test
- Passing candidates may be invited to participate in the Field Evaluations (hands-on test)
- Candidates successful in the field evaluation are invited to interview
