APS to Provide Customers with Summer Savings on July and August 2025 Bills

Summer is around the corner and Arizona Public Service (APS) is helping ease some of the burden of customers’ energy costs on their July and August 2025 bills. In April, the Arizona Corporation Commission approved APS’s proposal to provide $52 million in savings back to customers who pay the Environmental Benefits Surcharge. The Environmental Benefits Surcharge funds clean energy projects and programs that help customers use energy more efficiently.

For an average residential customer who uses 1,050 kilowatt hours (kWh) in a month, their bill would be about $10 lower than it would typically be in July and August. The reduction is applied directly to the Environmental Benefits Surcharge line item on a customer’s bill and is based on energy usage, so in most cases, if a customer uses more energy per month, they will receive a larger reduction; if they use less, it will be a smaller reduction.

APS is able to provide this one-time reduction because it met the goals of its energy efficiency and renewable energy programs without spending all the funds collected through the Environmental Benefits Surcharge, which were higher due to increased customer energy usage during hotter than normal weather, as well as growth from new customers. Additionally, programs, such as Green Power Partners, have been successful and generated revenue that flows back to customers through the Environmental Benefits Surcharge.

There are a variety of resources available to help keep summer energy bills as low as possible, including assistance resources, flexible payment arrangements, multiple rate plans and tips to manage cooling costs.
