Are you building a new multifamily community or have plans for a major renovation of an existing community?

Incorporating energy-saving equipment and features during the construction or renovation phase is an ideal way to help your residents save energy and money, and lower your overall operating costs. Our  New Construction offering includes rebates for the installation of pre-selected equipment (prescriptive approach) and rebates for achieving energy-saving performance goals (performance approach). New Construction participants can also earn rebates for installing eligible Wi-Fi-connected electric water heaters in residential units.

Steps to Participate

  1. Contact the MEEP team and let us know about your project. Call 866-277-5605 or email apsmeep@dnv.com.
  2. Work hand-in-hand with a MEEP Energy Advisor throughout the project who will answer any questions you have along the way.
  3. Receive an inspection and energy performance test to verify that the building meets energy performance requirements.
  4. Earn eligible rebates and help your residents save energy and money.

New Construction FAQs

Our MEEP Energy Advisors will work with you from start to finish on your new construction, new construction addition or major renovation project. We will help you determine the best approach for your project and the required steps for eligibility. Our team will meet with you and your builder regularly to review the progress of your project and ensure you are on the right track.

Existing multifamily communities often have many opportunities to improve energy use in residential units, while lowering overall operational costs in common areas spaces. Here’s how APS can help.

Installing energy-efficient products is an ideal way to help residents save energy and money, improve comfort and make your community more sustainable. Contact a MEEP Energy Advisor today to schedule a walk-through of your community. Our trained MEEP Energy Advisor or Trade Allies will work with you to identify ways to save energy in residences as well as in such common areas as parking lots, reception areas, pools and workout rooms. Trade Allies will also oversee installation of new equipment and the submission of any rebate applications, making your participation simple, easy and quick.

  4. Conduct a post inspection with a MEEP Energy Advisor to verify the installed energy-saving products.
  5. Earn eligible rebates for common area equipment and help your residents save energy and money.

Existing Multifamily Communities FAQs

If you're upgrading an existing multifamily community, we can evaluate and identify cost-effective opportunities for energy savings in common areas as well as residential units. During the walk-through, a MEEP Energy Advisor or Trade Ally will go over available rebates, project cost estimates and the installation process. Eligible residential units can receive water heater controllers to retrofit each home. Common area retrofit projects can include the installation of energy-efficient equipment from our MEEP Quick Look.

We offer water heater controllers for installation in individual units. Each community has the choice to install the products best suited for its residents. Our MEEP Trade Allies and program team will work with you to coordinate delivery of the energy-saving products. We request that they be installed within 30 days of delivery.

The MEEP HVAC Quality Install offering is an ideal way to make sure your multifamily community is equipped with HVAC systems that provide good indoor environmental quality (commonly referred to as IEQ) and the comfort your residents expect.

Contact our MEEP team to identify a qualified Trade Ally and schedule an appointment to have your community’s existing HVAC units inspected and replaced with qualifying units. Rebates are paid per qualifying unit installed that meet both equipment SEER and EER rating guidelines and quality installation standards. Consider participating in our Existing Multifamily Residential & Common Areas offering to see if your community qualifies to receive smart thermostats for residential units.

HVAC Quality Install FAQs

Contact our MEEP team to learn more and discuss the details of your current HVAC system. Please note that indoor units and mini-splits do not qualify. We will work with you to schedule an appointment with a Trade Ally who can visit your community and determine next steps. Rebates are paid for each qualifying HVAC unit installed that meets SEER/EER rating guidelines and quality installation standards.

Yes, licensed HVAC contractors or community maintenance teams who are not Trade Allies are able to participate in the HVAC Quality install offering. Your licensed HVAC contractor can work directly with our MEEP team to find out the requirements to conduct the installation and apply for the rebate.
