Why does Arizona Public Service advertise?

It’s a fair question. And one we hear often. Here’s why we spend money to communicate with customers.

Customers have told us that even though they don’t have a choice in their energy provider, they want choices to help them control their energy costs. We use targeted advertising and communication to help customers learn about those choices so they can save money and use less energy. The same advertising approach also helps people learn how to get timely outage information and tap into our payment assistance programs when needed.

Other kinds of communication and advertising such as our sports marketing sponsorships – are funded entirely by shareholders, not by customers.

As an Arizona-based utility, we’re proud to serve our communities and support several of our state’s sports teams. Through these partnerships, we’re able to raise awareness of helpful customer programs and options that help customers save energy and money. But customer rates don’t pay for these kinds of communication.

So, when you see APS communication and advertising, know that our goal is customer awareness and education.

As your energy provider, we have a responsibility to make it easy for you to find and use the programs, services, tools, and resources that can help. That’s why we invest in communication.
