APS Celebrates National Lineworker Appreciation Day on July 10

On Saturday, July 10, APS will observe National Lineworker Appreciation Day to recognize and celebrate our nation's lineworkers, craft personnel and all those who work to safely keep the power. This day also honors the life and work of Henry Miller, the first International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) president.

Throughout the country, more than 75,000 lineworkers serve around the clock and in all weather conditions to maintain and enhance the energy grid that powers our homes, schools, hospitals and other critical infrastructure. Lineworkers and craft personnel are the face of utility companies and often are among the first responders in the wake of storms, wildfires and other disasters, working in dangerous situations to restore power and keep the lights on.

In Arizona, APS lineworkers maintain approximately 33,000 miles of distribution lines and nearly 6,000 miles of transmission lines that power communities spanning from the Grand Canyon to Yuma and Douglas. Their dedication and hard work ensure that our nearly 1.3 million APS customers have clean, reliable and affordable energy every day.

Join APS, IBEW, Edison Electric Institute (EEI), the Utility Workers Union of America (UWUA), and the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) on July 10 and show your appreciation for lineworkers and fieldworkers everywhere by using #ThankALineworker to post on your favorite social media platform.
