Reduce your hot water use and save on water and energy bills without sacrificing convenience. From installing low flow shower heads to lowering the water temperature, we’ve got tips to save you money and energy.

  • use cold or warm water to wash instead of hot to save energy
  • use only cold water to rinse dishes before putting them in the dishwasher
  • wash clothes in cold or warm water and use cold to rinse
  • when you use a water heater insulation jacket, you reduce your water heater’s energy use by 10% to 12%, but check the owner’s manual (some manufacturers don’t recommend using wraps)
  • adjust the load setting on your washing machine to save water when you wash smaller loads
  • installing low-flow showerheads can save a family of 4 up to 15,000 gallons of water per year
