Maximize your smart thermostat and get rewarded with our Cool Rewards and Rush Hour Rewards programs.

APS Cool Rewards and APS Rush Hour Rewards

We offer two Bring Your Own Smart Thermostat (BYOT) program options, depending on which smart thermostat(s) you own.

Here’s how it works:

Get a $25 bill credit for each smart thermostat you enroll in the program

Get another $25 bill credit per smart thermostat during the Cool Rewards or Rush Hour Rewards event season (June-September) to help lower energy use when the temperatures soar in Arizona and everyone is using more energy

what to expect

Participation in the APS Rush Hour Rewards program will allow Nest to raise your thermostat temperature up by a few degrees during Rush Hour Rewards events, which may occur weekdays or weekends, during the event season, June 1 through September 30. There will never be more than 20 events per event season and each will last an average of 2 hours. Prior to an event, there may be a period of pre-cooling, which will allow Nest to lower your thermostat temperature by a few degrees to help maintain comfort during the event.

Nest will send you an alert prior to an event so you know when it will be happening and how long it will last. You’ll be able to opt out of any of the events from your smartphone, computer or thermostat if it’s not convent for you.

Participants will receive the enrollment bill credit when accepted into the program, within one to two billing cycles. Participants who enroll during the event season (June 1 – September 30) will receive the first participation bill credit in the current season. Those who enroll after the event season (October 1 – May 31) will receive the first participation bill credit during the next event season in June. Thereafter, participants will receive the participation bill credits annually in June, as long as the program is available.
