This plan lets you take your savings to the max. It is best if you shift more of your energy use to off-peak hours and must be able to stagger the use of major appliances during on-peak hours.

how it works
lowest cost off-peak hours + greater peak hour usage charge
This plan has three parts: a basic service charge, an energy charge and a peak hour usage charge.

  • basic service charge: a basic service charge for fixed costs
  • energy charge: total amount of energy used during a billing cycle (kWh). This charge will vary by season (summer or winter) and by the time of day the energy is used (on-peak & off-peak)
  • peak hour usage charge: a separate charge for the highest one hour of on-peak energy used during a billing cycle (also referred to as demand kW)
  • on-peak hours (higher cost): 3pm - 8pm Monday - Friday
  • off-peak hours (lower cost): 8pm - 3pm Monday - Friday & all day on weekends and 10 holidays
  • 10 holidays: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, Cesar Chavez Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day & Christmas Day
*If these holidays fall on a Saturday, the preceding Friday will be off-peak. If they fall on a Sunday, the following Monday will be off-peak.

how to save
saving is as easy as Shift, Stagger & Save!
  • Shift the use of energy to off-peak hours when energy is a lower cost. For example, set your dishwasher to run on a delay cycle, run your laundry after 8 p.m. and set your pool pump timer to run before 3 p.m. on weekdays.
  • Stagger the use of major appliance like your oven, dryer and hot water heater, across on-peak hours.
  • Save energy and money on your overall usage by taking advantage of some basic energy efficiency programs, tips, and tools. Take advantage of one of our rebate programs, set your thermostat a few degrees higher in the summer and lower in the winter and take our quick and easy Energy Analyzer survey to get an energy-savings report customized for your home.
