Medical Care Equipment program.

energy support program - 25% discount

If you meet the program income guidelines and your application is approved, you will receive a flat 25% discount on your monthly bill to assist with your energy costs. Please note: the Medical Care Equipment Program is a flat 35% discount and has additional requirements. Participation in these programs does not affect any public assistance benefits.

things to remember when applying
  1. Complete and sign the application form and make sure all account holders sign the form

  1. Provide proof of income - if you are on public assistance you can include a card or award letter from one of the following accepted public assistance agencies; otherwise provide documents from the accepted income documents list below showing at least one recent month's income for all adult members of your household.
    • Provide one of the following accepted public assistance agencies: 
      • Quest Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) Card
      • Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) award letter
      • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) award letter

    • Accepted income documents that apply to your household (copies must be submitted for ALL adults living in the home): 
      • one consecutive month's worth of recent pay stubs 
      • W-2’s for the past year 
      • most recent year’s Federal Tax Form 1040, 1040A or 1040EZ 
      • most recent year’s Federal and state income tax returns (if self-employed) 
      • supplemental security income (SSI) 
      • social security disability income 
      • official child support or alimony award letters 
      • veterans benefits 
      • annuities 
      • unemployment 
    • Important: your income documents will not be returned. Do NOT send original documents. All copies will be handled in a secure and confidential manner and will be destroyed after processing is complete.

please note: 
  • include income documents - applications submitted without copies of income documents and/or signatures of all account holders will be marked 'incomplete' and processing will be delayed or cancelled. Customer will be notified of incomplete applications.
  • application processing - please allow approximately 30-45 days
  • recertification - To maintain your eligibility, you must recertify for the program each year. Your annual re-certification application will automatically be mailed out to you in advance of your anniversary date.
​​​​Program funded by APS customers and approved by the Arizona Corporation Commission. Customers must have a gross monthly household income at or below 150% of the federal poverty guidelines to qualify for the Energy Support Program. The 25% discount will be deducted from the monthly bill prior to the application of taxes, regulatory assessment, and franchise fees. Customers must reapply for the program each year to maintain their discount. Program is subject to change. Other restrictions may apply.​​
medical care equipment program - 35% discount
If you're a limited income customer, you may be eligible to reduce your electric bill through our Energy Support Program or Medical Care Equipment Program.
If you meet the program income guidelines and your application is approved, you will receive a flat 35% discount on your monthly bill to assist with your energy costs.​

how it works
  • to qualify you must meet all of the energy support program requirements and submit the application, in addition:
  • you must also complete the physicians verification application that is part of the Medical Care Preparedness Program
  • account holder must complete, sign and return the application form
  • patient doesn’t need to be customer of record
  • recertify income and re-verify the medical equipment each year to maintain eligibility (we’ll automatically send you the necessary paperwork)
