what do you enjoy most about your job?
Kerri
There are always new and exciting challenges, and I can actively participate in long-term strategic decisions. Our department works with a variety of internal and external groups and I’m learning from so many different people about lots of topics. My current role gives me a deeper understanding of the industry and of our company’s place in that industry.
Sarah
The thing I enjoy most is working with the different people at our 8 fossil power plants.  From plant management to front line employees, I get to listen and help them work through their issues.

Adrienne
There are a lot of great things about working for APS including the various opportunities and benefits.  But the best part about working here is the people. There are a lot of really genuine people in this company.

Kayla
What I enjoy most about my job is the experience I’m gaining. While I have an engineering degree, gaining that practical, real-world experience is invaluable. Once I transition from this training program, I feel confident I’ll be better able to support the APS fleet in achieving operational excellence.

what do you think it takes to be successful here?
Adrienne

I believe you need a positive attitude, a desire to work hard, a willingness to look at things from different views and the ability to be flexible.

Subba

You must be willing to self-identify challenging assignments and ask for them. I also believe networking and a desire to help others in their efforts are significant contributors to success.

Lester

Own and live the company values. Work safe and be able to think outside the box. Take all opportunities for self improvement.

Kerri

You have to embrace change, not be afraid of a challenge, be willing to jump into any situation, be a lifelong learner, never be afraid to take initiative and contribute innovative ideas.

why did you choose to work here?
Kayla
I decided to work for APS because I saw the company making solid investments in developing its future workforce. Creating the “New Engineers in Operations” program, as well as recruiting the top talent from colleges across the country, lets me know that APS is thinking long-term. It’s making sure employees are experienced and knowledgeable. The valuable experience I gained as a college intern during summers 2010 and 2011 made accepting an engineering position with APS a no-brainer.
Adrienne

I was drawn to work at APS because of the reputation the company has in the communities it serves. It’s a relatively large company, with room to move around and plenty of areas to learn. I believe the care APS has for the communities it serves is the same care it has for its employees.

Sarah

I heard a presentation about Palo Verde during a recruitment fair in college. I was impressed by pictures of equipment and the opportunities discussed.

Kerri

Both of my parents worked for APS at Palo Verde, so I was exposed to the positive experience they both had working for the company.

Lester
APS offers great career opportunities, employee development, teamwork and vision.
