Every year across the state, our employees volunteer at food banks, coordinate light parades, help at senior centers and much more, all in an effort to strengthen our communities. One of the organizations that benefits from our volunteer efforts is the Salvation Army. We are proud of our long standing partnership with the organization, which has served in our state for more than 120 years. This year, our employees are volunteering for Salvation Army’s annual toy drive and collecting change through the Red Kettle campaign.
The Red Kettle campaign has deep roots in American history, actually inspiring the holiday classic song, “Silver Bells.” And all those nickels, dimes and quarters add up. The campaign raised more than $144 million nationwide in 2014 to support nearly 30 million Americans facing hardship. The Salvation Army uses those donations to supply food, clothing, toys, childcare and financial assistance on utility bills for disadvantaged families during the holidays. They also provide support for homeless individuals and senior citizens across the United States.
