aps celebrates national teacher appreciation month
Teaching isn’t just a job, it’s a passion. Teachers spend countless hours and money from their own pockets to prepare our children for the future. And while May is National Teacher Appreciation Month, we celebrate teachers all year round.

We partner with the Arizona Educational Foundation (AEF) and the Arizona K12 Center to celebrate the good work being done in classrooms across the state. Supporting AEF’s Teacher of the Year program and the K12 Center’s Celebration of Accomplished Teaching ensures those who help Arizona students get the recognition they deserve.

We are proud to support teachers by bringing much-needed resources and training to school districts statewide. In 2016 alone, nearly $2.9 million was invested in Arizona education, including $730,000 specifically for teacher support.

Through the APS/Phoenix Suns STEM mini-grant program, 25 Arizona teachers this semester offered hands-on activities to their classrooms to ignite a passion for science, technology, engineering and math. Thanks to the $50,000 in grants, these 25 teachers engaged students with robot programming, creating a zero-waste school, 3D printing from recycled plastic bottles, and sustainable gardening, among other projects.

We are honored to offer our support to Arizona teachers.
