Many of our customers on time-of-use plans already conserve between 3-8. Here are some tips for how to do it:
For residential customers:
- Pre-cool your home before 3 p.m. by setting your thermostat a few degrees lower
- At 3, set the thermostat a few degrees higher than you’d normally keep it– ideally 78 degrees or higher (unless someone in the home has a medical condition)
- Avoid use of discretionary major appliances such as clothes washers, dryers and dishwashers
- Use ceiling fans to help cool people and pets
- Keep curtains or blinds closed to help prevent your home from heating up
- Turn off extra lights
- Avoid operation of pool pumps (it’s best to run those prior to 3 p.m.)
- Unplug appliances not in use
- Keep the refrigerator and freezer closed as much as possible
- Do not charge electric vehicles between 3-8.
For businesses:
