As part of the national Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency requires certain industries (primarily manufacturing industries) to monitor and report certain chemicals they use, manufacture or release to the environment in amounts beyond a given threshold each year.
At APS, we are proud of our environmental record and fully support the EPA’s Community Right-to-Know program and its Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) program.
APS’ two coal plants -- Four Corners Power Plant, near Farmington, New Mexico, and Cholla Power Plant, west of Holbrook, Arizona -- are the only APS facilities required to file TRI reports under the new federal regulations. The inaugural results were reported to EPA July 1, 1999 and are reported annually on the same date.
