Energy!
Energy is what makes things go. It’s what gives us the ability to do work. People get their energy from food. Cars get their energy from gasoline. Many of the things in your house, like televisions, computers and lights, get their energy from electricity.
Where does electricity come from?
Electricity can be made from lots of different things. Oil and coal from the ground can be changed into electricity. Wind and water can also be used to create electricity. Here in Arizona it’s sunny for most of the year, and using the Sun is a great way to make electricity.
Also, we can use science! There are tiny parts of matter called atoms that are so small they can only be seen with special microscopes. We can use these atoms to create electricity, too.
