Frequently Asked Questions
about Smart Meters

Since 2006, APS has been replacing traditional customer meters - whose only function has been to measure electricity usage - with Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), also known as smart meters.

The new meters - already deployed to more than half of APS’s 1.1 million retail customers - enable direct communication between the meter and the utility, allowing an improved level of customer service today and limitless possibilities in the future.
