Frequently Asked Questions on SurePay

What is SurePay and how can I benefit from SurePay?
SurePay means no more checks to write; your account is paid automatically each month. You'll never need to worry about delinquent bills, postage, or the cost to get to an APS office to make your payment. Your money stays in your bank account until the payment due date. And you will receive a 48 cent discount each month you are enrolled.

How do I enroll in SurePay?
There are two easy ways to enroll in SurePay. You can print a SurePay authorization form, fill it out and mail it to us with the required information from your financial institution. Or fill out the form on the lower portion of your APS bill (page 2) and return it with your check payment in the remittance envelope. Your request will be processed once it is received

What is the difference between SurePay and AutoPay?
Both SurePay and AutoPay programs automatically debit your bank account each month on the due date of your APS bill. When enrolled in AutoPay you will receive only an electronic bill, and can change your bank account information, payment date and payment amount through aps.com. While on SurePay, you must complete and mail a new SurePay application* to change your bank account information. Payment amount and date cannot be changed with SurePay.

When will the payment be deducted from my bank account?
You will receive an e-mail from APS approximately 10 days before the bill is due. Your payment will be deducted on the due date listed.

What happens when my payment due date falls on a weekend or a bank holiday?
Your bill will be due the next business day.

Can you hold my SurePay payment this month?
We can place a hold on your payment for the month as long as we receive a 48 hour notification prior to the transmission occurring (if the payment is scheduled for Monday and request is made on a weekend, we are unable to hold). When a hold is placed, it is not possible to schedule the payment for a different date, and a manual payment will be necessary. You can make your payment via aps.com, phone, or mail. The hold will automatically be removed on the next billing and SurePay will proceed as normal.

How can I delete my scheduled SurePay payment?
If you need to delete the schedule payment immediately, please contact the Customer Care Center at (602) 371-7171 or (800) 253-9405. A representative can assist you with this process.

Can I become ineligible for this program?
Yes. If two payment requests are returned by your financial institution for non-sufficient funds you may be ineligible for SurePay. Should you become ineligible for SurePay, your payments will be due by cashiers check, cash or money order. This change would take place with the next available billing cycle.

How do I de-enroll from SurePay?
You can contact the Customer Care Center or send us an e-mail. We will process your cancellation immediately.

What happens if my payment is delinquent?
Your bill must be paid on time and may be subject to delinquent fees. All APS credit terms still apply. If your payment is late two times within a 12-month period, you will be removed from SurePay.

How will I know how much will be deducted from my account?
Each month you will receive a bill showing the amount and the date this amount will be deducted from your account and transferred to your APS account.

What should I do if my bank account number changes or I change banks?
Send a new completed SurePay application* along with a copy of a voided check or a statement showing your savings account and bank routing number. Once the new application is received, your former bank account will be end dated. If you need to immediately stop a SurePay debit from your former bank account, please contact the Customer Care Center at (602) 371-7171 or (800) 253-9405. A representative will stop the SurePay process while awaiting the application and voided check.

I am on SurePay. Can I update my bank information online?
SurePay is a manual process which requires a SurePay application* to be submitted with a voided check or a statement showing your savings account and bank routing number. You can only update your bank information online if you signed up for AutoPay online.

I am on SurePay. How can I stop my printed bills?
Register at aps.com, log on with your username and password, and from the My Account Page, Click on the link to the right to Turn Paper Billing Off. Select the "Only electronically, with e-mail notification" billing preference, verify your e-mail address, and hit Submit.

If I have further Questions regarding SurePay who do I contact?
You can contact us online or call the Customer Care Center at (602) 371-7171 in the Phoenix area or (800) 253-9405. You can also write us at APS SurePay, PO Box 53933- MS 3855, Phoenix, AZ 85072-3933.
