When you sign up for service with APS, you may be asked to pay a deposit. Deposit amounts may vary depending on credit score results, and will not exceed two times the average monthly bill at the service address.
The deposit will be retained until you have achieved 12 consecutive months of prompt payment. Once you have established a good payment history, the deposit plus interest will be applied as a credit to your account on the 13th month. If you disconnect service before your deposit is applied, it will be credited to your final bill.
A deposit will earn interest effective with the date it is posted to the account, however, the interest is not paid until the deposit has been on the account for a minimum of 6 months.
If your bill payments are delinquent two or more times in a 12-month period, or your service is disconnected for non-payment, you may be asked to pay a new security deposit of two times your average bill.
In lieu of a deposit, APS will accept a letter of credit verification from an electric utility company where service was received for at least 12 consecutive months within the past two years.
