Direct Install

APS offers a “Direct Install” approach to help small businesses and schools in APS service territory improve their energy efficiency. Direct Install cuts the cost and hassle of energy efficiency upgrades, which makes it easier than ever for small businesses and schools to save energy and money.

What's different about Direct Install?

• Direct Install-approved contractor handles all paperwork, cutting the hassle-factor for customers.
• Rebates cover up to 90% of the project cost, making it more affordable to improve efficiency.
• Program pays the rebate directly to the contractor, reducing the up-front costs for customers.
• The customer’s return on investment is less than one year for most projects.

Who can participate?
Schools of any size and each premise of a small business with 100kW or less in peak monthly demand within APS service territory are eligible to participate.

How do I participate?
Contact a Direct Install-approved Trade Ally (contractor) to schedule a facility assessment. The contractor will provide a written proposal for your review and signature. APS Solutions for Business program staff may conduct pre- and post-inspections to ensure the equipment is appropriate and installed. The contractor handles all the paperwork and APS sends the rebate to the contractor. You pay any remaining balance to the contractor.

What measures are included in Direct Install?
The Direct Install approach focuses on common upgrades with short payback periods. These measures include:

Lighting

• T8 fluorescent lamps
• CFLs: screw-in/hard-wired
• Exit Signs
• Occupancy Sensors
• De-Lamping

Refrigeration

• Refrigerated case evaporator fan motor retrofit/new controls
• Refrigerated novelty case controls
• Anti-sweat heater controls
• Occupancy sensor controls on vending machines
