APS Launches New Rebate for Designers, Builders July 15, 2010 APS Solutions for Business recently announced a new rebate for business customers who design and build energy efficient buildings that surpass current energy efficiency standards in non-residential structures. The new rebate is designed to help the company meet its aggressive energy efficiency goals. The Whole Building Incentive offers two rebates: the design rebate encourages incorporation of energy efficiency from the start of a project; and the construction rebate reduces the cost of constructing a high-performance building from the ground up. The incentives begin at 14 cents per annual kWh saved and increase based on performance. Qualifying projects must be either new construction or major renovation. Developers and owners also can apply for an "energy study" rebate to offset the cost of performance modeling during design, up to $10,000. A training workshop is scheduled for 7:30 a.m.to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 21, at the Phoenix Airport Marriott, and is targeted specifically for design professionals and developers interested in high-performance buildings. Participants are encouraged to bring laptops. The cost of registration is $150 (or $75 for APS customers and Solutions for Business trade allies) - breakfast and lunch are included. Training is offered in conjunction with the Association of Energy Engineers and qualifies for six hours of CEU credit from the AIA. The Whole Building training workshop will offer recommendations on designing buildings that exceed - by 10 percent or greater - the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Standard 90.1 (2007), which represents the benchmark for energy efficiency in buildings. The agenda also includes energy modeling with eQUEST; the features of energy-efficient buildings; and the Solutions for Business application process and incentives. To register, visit aps.com/businessrebates or call (866) 277-5605 for more information. The program is funded by APS customers and approved by the Arizona Corporation Commission. The APS Solutions for Business program has paid more than $23 million in program incentives to more than 700 non-residential customers since the program started in February 2006. Collectively, these customers will save $402 million on their APS bills over the equipment's lifetime. In addition, the installed measures will cut 2.6 million tons of greenhouse gas emissions and save 1.34 billion gallons of water. APS, Arizona's largest and longest-serving electricity utility, serves about 1.1 million customers in 11 of the state's 15 counties. With headquarters in Phoenix, APS is the principal subsidiary of Pinnacle West Capital Corp. (NYSE: PNW). Contact: Jenna Henry, Media Contact |
