APS National Bank of Arizona Offers Financing for Energy Efficiency Projects
Program will Reduce Up-front Costs for Improvements

June 10, 2010

PHOENIX - Small businesses, schools and governments in APS service territory have a new resource for financing energy efficiency projects thanks to a partnership between APS and the National Bank of Arizona (NB|AZ).

Launched in May, this financing feature offers APS customers another practical solution for implementing valuable, energy-saving projects.

"The APS Solutions for Business program provides rebates for business customers to reduce the up-front cost of energy efficiency improvements," said Valerie Wynia, APS Program Manager. These projects pay back over time through utility bill savings. "Even with the APS rebate, the initial project cost poses a barrier for some customers. Access to low-cost financing may help customers overcome this obstacle."

"National Bank of Arizona is proud to partner with APS for a second time to expand our sustainability offerings to include energy efficiency loans," said Craig Robb, Executive Vice President of National Bank of Arizona. "Our first APS partnership, Solar Phoenix, continues to be incredibly successful and this second partnership will further our mission of supporting energy-saving initiatives."

The low interest rate financing option is available to APS small business customers (those with 100 kW or less monthly demand per site). APS school and government customers can apply for the low interest rate capital lease program. Financing is available when customers participate in the Solutions for Business rebate program.

APS and NB|AZ conducted training sessions for Solutions for Business program trade allies and received positive feedback from these local contractors. Michael Bourne, of InLine Electrical Resources, emphasized the potential benefit for small businesses. "These are the businesses that are struggling the most. For them to have a financing option to outweigh the up-front costs of a project is a huge help."
