APS Seeks Additional Renewable Energy
Company Issues Request for Proposal

April 27, 2010

PHOENIX - Arizona Public Service Co. announces a request for proposal for energy generated from small renewable projects.

The energy must come from projects with capacity between 2 and 15 megawatts with a commercial operation date by Dec. 31, 2012, for solar and wind projects and by Dec. 31, 2013, for all other technologies. Eligible resources include biogas, landfill gas, biomass, geothermal, solar, wind, hybrid wind and certain hydropower technologies.

The solicitation is part of APS's Small Generation Program, which is designed to accelerate the number of successful small renewable generation projects by streamlining the proposal and contract procedures.

Interested parties are encouraged to participate in a bidder's conference May 20, 2010. Additional information about the teleconference and the RFP is available online at www.aps.com/rfp.

Energy from this proposal will go toward meeting the Renewable Energy Standard set by the Arizona Corporation Commission in 2006.

APS, Arizona's largest and longest-serving electricity utility, serves about 1.1 million customers in 11 of the state's 15 counties. With headquarters in Phoenix, APS is the largest principal of Pinnacle West Capital Corp. (NYSE: PNW).
