APS Seeks Renewable Energy from Solar and Arizona-Based Wind Projects
Two Requests for Proposal Issued

January 27, 2010

PHOENIX - In an effort to attract and acquire new renewable energy projects for the benefit of its retail customers, Arizona Public Service Co. (APS) announces two requests for proposals (RFP), one for new sources of photovoltaic energy and the other for Arizona-based wind.

The RFP for photovoltaic seeks projects between 15 and 50 megawatts. Projects must employ commercially proven technology.  APS hopes to procure approximately 220,000 megawatt hours annually from this solicitation. Respondents are required to provide proposals for long-term power purchase agreements and/or "turn-key" (developer-built with APS purchasing the project when completed) agreements.

Interested parties are encouraged to participate in the photovoltaic RFP bidder's conference on March 12, 2010. Additional information about the conference and the RFP is available online at www.aps.com/rfp. RFP submissions are due April 7, 2010.

The solicitation for Arizona-based wind seeks projects between 15 and 100 megawatts located entirely within Arizona. As with the solar RFP, respondents are required to provide proposals for long-term power purchase and/or "turn-key" agreements.

Interested parties are encouraged to participate in the Arizona-based wind RFP bidder's teleconference on March 17, 2010. Additional information about the conference and the RFP is available online at www.aps.com/rfp. RFP submissions are due April 14, 2010.

Both RFPs are part of the recent Arizona Corporation Commission-approved, and broadly supported rate settlement agreement signed by Arizona Public Service Co. and 21 other parties.

APS, Arizona's largest and longest-serving electricity utility, serves about 1.1 million customers in 11 of the state's 15 counties. With headquarters in Phoenix, APS is the principal subsidiary of Pinnacle West Capital Corp. (NYSE: PNW)
