APS to Host October 1 Stimulus Funding Workshop to Help Schools Obtain Energy Efficiency Dollars

 What: Arizona Public Service Co. along with the Arizona School Facilities Board will host the free “Just forـ Schools” forum to help schools statewide obtain federal funding to implement energy-savings projects. The goal of the forum is to help schools interested in the stimulus funds understand the application process and requirements associated with the funds.
When: 8:30 to 1:45 p.m., Thursday, October 1, 2009
Where: Tempe Mission Palms Hotel, 60 E. Fifth Street, Tempe, AZ 85281
Who:

More than 100 representatives from school districts across Arizona will attend and learn about the funding process from presenters:

- Evelyn Casuga, APS General Manager, Customer Service
- Gary Marks, Member, Arizona School Facilities Board
- John Arnold, Executive Director, Arizona School Facilities Board
- Michele Negley, Program Manager, APS Solutions for Business
- Jim Migliorino, Executive Director, Deer Valley School District
- Dave Peterson, Assistant Superintendent, Scottsdale School District
- Dale Hahs, Member & Past President, Energy Services Coalition
- Jim Wontor, APS Manager, Energy Efficiency
- Tony Tewelis, Advisor, APS Renewable Energy Incentive Program

Service Providers and Contractors

Why: Currently, $20 million in federal funding is available through the Arizona School Facilities Board and the State Energy Office. Federal funds can be utilized for renewable energy projects and leveraged with other energy grant funds and those available under the APS Solutions for Business and the APS Renewable Energy Incentive Program, which would result in substantial energy savings for Arizona schools.
