APS Partners with Hispanic Chamber to Offer Free Energy Efficiency Workshop

August 14, 2009

Large and small businesses are quickly learning what it takes to be nimble and successful in managing their businesses in today’s economy. Reducing costs and reaping savings through effective practices in energy consumption is one sure way to accomplish this.

That’s why APS, in partnership with the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, will host a free workshop on APS’ Solutions for Business Program as part of the 16th Annual Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week event, August 18 at the Arizona Biltmore Conference Center, Casa Grande Ballroom, 2400 E. Missouri. The overall event begins at 8 a.m. while the APS workshop runs from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m.

With the help of the APS Solutions for Business Program, non-residential electric customers can learn to use their energy wisely and also receive incentives for doing so. The program offers an array of energy efficient services to businesses of all sizes, municipalities, schools and non-profit agencies. Ongoing training courses are also held throughout the year across Arizona. At the break-out session, participants will learn about:

  • Accessing up to $150,000 per year in rebates for energy efficiency measures and how to reduce overall electricity costs.
  • The "direct install" aspect of the program, specifically tailored to help small businesses lower their upfront costs.
  • How to utilize the APS Solutions for Business Program.

The increasingly popular program, introduced in March 2006, has provided APS’ non-residential customers with measurable savings that have included:

  • Incentives totaling more than $14.9 million in incentives.
  • Savings of more than $273 million on their APS bills over the lifetime of newly-installed equipment.
  • Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 1.8 million tons; equivalent to the annual emissions from 265,000 cars.

The APS Solutions for Business Program is paid for by APS customers and approved by the Arizona Corporation Commission. For more information on the program, visit aps.com.

APS, Arizona’s largest and longest-serving electricity utility, serves about 1.1 million customers in 11 of the state’s 15 counties. With headquarters in Phoenix, APS is the principal subsidiary of Pinnacle West Capital Corp. (NYSE: PNW).
