Bereznak Named New APS Community Representative July 27, 2009 APS today announced the hiring of Andrea Bereznak as its new Community Development Consultant for the southwest region, which includes Yuma, San Luis, Parker, Somerton, Quartzite and Yuma County. Bereznak will work with local elected officials, business owners and community leaders on various issues related to APS and the community. In addition, she will manage all corporate giving for the Yuma area. Bereznak comes to APS from the Greater Yuma Economic Development Corporation where she worked with community leaders, government officials and others to bring new business to the Greater Yuma area. She has also worked for the U.S. Department of Commerce, both in Denver and Monterrey, Mexico. Considered a rising community leader, Bereznak is a member of the Yuma-based NexGen Leadership Council and board member of the newly established nonprofit, Sunpowerment, which installs solar panels on the homes of low-income residents. In her spare time, she teaches ballet to children in the community. “Andrea brings excellent knowledge of the community and an understanding of the critical importance of reliable and affordable electricity for the people of Yuma,” said Jim Valenzuela, Director of Southern Arizona Energy Delivery. Originally from Colorado, Bereznak has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from the University of Northern Colorado, as well as a Masters in Economics and Public Policy from the Technical Institute of Higher Studies in Monterrey, Mexico.
