APS Crews Completing Storm Repairs
Last of Harquahala Customers Being Brought Back into Service

July 23, 2009

PHOENIX - APS crews early Thursday were completing restoration efforts to a handful of customers in the Harquahala Valley area who were impacted by this week's monsoon storms.

Severe monsoon storms hit areas west of the Valley on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday evenings. Winds reaching reported speeds of 100 mph toppled as many as 200 power poles in the areas of Gila Bend, Ajo, Dateland and Harquahala. Crews from around the state have worked around the clock to restore service to those affected by the storms. In addition, APS has provided 50,000 pounds of dry ice to customers affected by the outages.

APS, Arizona's largest and longest-serving electricity utility, serves more than 1 million customers in 11 of the state's 15 counties. With headquarters in Phoenix, APS is the largest subsidiary of Pinnacle West Capital Corp.
