APS Announces Suppliers of the Year May 26, 2009 PHOENIX – APS has announced the company’s Suppliers of the Year, honoring ten companies APS has deemed the best-of-the-best for 2008. “Our suppliers are critical to our company’s success,” said Ron Trafzer, Director of Supply Chain Management for APS. “The APS Supplier-of-the-Year Awards are an opportunity for our company to honor the suppliers who continue to bring innovative ideas and solutions to enable us to achieve our goals.” APS works with more than 4,000 suppliers each year who provide a wide variety of services and products that touch every business unit in the company. The winners of the annual awards excelled at meeting APS’ expectations of achieving the best total cost of ownership value, including delivery, quality, cost, account management and safety. 2008 also marked the end of an era, as longtime supplier Chevron Mining, Inc. is closing down. The company has been supplying APS with coal to its Cholla Power Plant since it began operations in 1962. APS honored Chevron Mining, Inc. with the Lifetime Recognition Award. APS, Arizona’s largest and longest-serving electricity utility, serves more than one million customers throughout the state. In 2008, APS won its second Edison Award in recognition of innovative leadership and operational excellence in the electric industry. Given annually by the Edison Electric Institute, the Edison Award is considered the industry’s most prestigious honor.
