APS Names Daniel Froetscher VP of Energy Delivery

October 23, 2008

Arizona Public Service announced today that company veteran Daniel Froetscher has been named Vice President of Energy Delivery.

A 28-year APS employee, Froetscher will be responsible for all facets of energy delivery, including operations and maintenance of the company's transmission and distribution system, service restoration, new construction and planning. He succeeds Senior Vice President of Energy Delivery Jan Bennett, who has announced his retirement after a distinguished 41-year APS career.

"Jan Bennett leaves a strong legacy," said APS President and CEO Don Brandt. "Jan provided the leadership and encouraged innovation that has enabled APS to build a superior system even through periods of unprecedented growth. He took on the toughest challenges of the day while always keeping an eye on the future.

"APS is a better company for Jan's dedicated service."

Froetscher, who has reported directly to Bennett since 1995, brings a broad company perspective and extensive leadership experience to his new position. Since starting with APS in 1980, Froetscher has served in a wide variety of customer service and energy delivery positions, including Division Manager in the company's Southeast and Northwest regions, and General Manager of Northern Arizona Energy Delivery. Most recently, Froetscher was the company's General Manager for Rural Arizona Energy Delivery.

"Even in the midst of an economic downturn, Arizona continues to grow," Brandt said. "We must address the energy needs of our customers today and in the future. Daniel's understanding of the issues that impact our delivery system will be an asset as we confront the challenges faced by our company and the industry."

APS, Arizona's largest and longest-serving electricity utility, serves about 1.1 million customers in 11 of the state's 15 counties. In 2008, APS won its second Edison Award in recognition of innovative leadership and operational excellence in the electric industry.  Given annually by the Edison Electric Institute, the Edison Award is considered the industry's most prestigious honor. With headquarters in Phoenix, APS is the principal subsidiary of Pinnacle West Capital Corp. (NYSE: PNW).
