APS and Phoenix Suns Offering Education Mini-Grants July 29, 2002 Phoenix, AZ - APS and the Phoenix Suns are offering energy and environmental education grants of up to $1,000 to be awarded for the 2002-2003 school year. A total of $50,000 in grants is available. The grants are open to educators statewide who teach grades K-12 in public schools located in APS service territories. They are designed to encourage students and teachers to pursue ideas and projects that link energy and environmental education to "core" subjects. Projects must be completed by the end of the 2002-2003 school year. Grants will be awarded in three categories:
Applications are available at any APS customer office or on-line. All completed applications must be postmarked no later than Friday, September 20, 2002. Applications will be judged on several criteria, including how the proposed activity addresses critical energy and environmental issues facing Arizona. Announcement of grant recipients will be made the week of October 15, 2002.
