SOLAR PANELS   |   SOLAR WATER HEATERS   |   SOLAR SPACE HEATING

Today's low-profile photovoltaic (PV) solar panels fit snugly on your roof, integrating well with any style home. They provide clean, renewable, affordable energy, and take advantage of Arizona's 300-plus sunny days each year.

How rooftop solar panels work:
  1. Panels on your roof contain sunlight-absorbing semiconductors, which work even on cloudy days.
  2. The panels convert sunlight into electrons, which flow as direct current (DC) electricity to the inverter.
  3. The inverter transforms the DC electricity into an alternating current (AC) electricity - the kind of electricity used in your home.
  4. If your system produces more electricity than you use, the excess energy flows to the APS grid, and your APS account is credited.
  5. Because your home remains connected to the APS power grid, you'll have electricity at night and on dark, rainy days.
