Solar Energy at APS
With more than 300 days of sunshine a year, solar energy makes sense for Arizona. That's why APS is tapping into the sun to help meet the growing energy needs of our customers.
Solana Generating Station (Under Development)
APS has made a significant commitment to solar with the planned construction of the Solana Generation Station, a 280-megawatt (MW) concentrating solar power plant to be built 70 miles southwest of Phoenix, near Gila Bend, Ariz.. The plant will have the capacity to produce enough energy to serve 70,000 APS customers.

Other Solar Energy Sites
APS owns and operates more than 30 on-grid and off-grid small solar systems around the state. Together they produce about 1.5 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy. Learn more...
Partnerships
We are partnering with the Grand Canyon National Park to install eighty-four photovoltaic solar panels. Read more...

| Eighty-four photovoltaic solar panels are installed on and around the Visitor Center, providing approximately 18 kilowatts of electricity. |
The panels will not only provide needed electricity but will also serve as a unique educational opportunity for the more than 4.5 million people who visit the Canyon each year. |
APS Solar & Renewable Incentive Program
Individual APS customers can take advantage of the sun's energy by adding solar to their home or place of business. Whether interested in creating your own electricity with solar panels, or using the heat of the sun to produce hot water or space heating, APS incentives for residential and business customers can dramatically cut installation costs.

The Community Power Project Flagstaff Pilot
APS is proposing a pilot project in Flagstaff designed to increase the deployment of renewable energy, especially distributed energy from solar panels. The APS Community Power Project provides another opportunity for people to “go solar.” With no upfront costs, community members will host solar electric systems on their rooftops and join with their neighbors to form, in essence, an interconnected renewable power plant. The pilot will also be a part of APS’s smart grid initiatives for operation and data collection.
