Green Choice Rates

APS is committed to expanding the use of renewable energy. As part of this commitment, we offer three green rates. Any APS customer can become a Green Choice Rates member.

APS provides its customers renewable energy from a variety of resources including solar, wind and geothermal. When you participate in one of our Green Choice Rate options, a portion of your home or business' electricity needs will be met by renewable energy. And, with Green Choice Rates, you decide the amount of your electricity that will come from renewable resources.

The Green Choice Block option (GPS-1) is designed to offer you the opportunity to purchase a fixed amount of your monthly usage from renewable resources such as wind and geothermal. Each kWh (kilowatt hour), available in 100 kWh blocks, is priced at a premium of $0.01 plus tax, in addition to your normal monthly charges. You choose how many 100 kWh blocks you wish to purchase.
The Green Choice Percentage option (GPS-2) is designed to give you the option to choose what percentage of your actual monthly usage is provided by renewable wind and geothermal resources. Like our Green Choice Block option, each kWh purchased is priced at a premium of $0.01 plus tax, in addition to your normal monthly charges. You can choose 10 percent (non-residential only), 35 percent, 50 percent or 100 percent of your monthly usage.*
For customers who want their renewable energy generated only by solar resources, but are not interested in installing a solar PV system, APS offers the Green Choice Total Solar option (Solar-3). While the premium for this option is higher than our other Green Choice options, it is a convenient way to take advantage of the state's most abundant source of renewable energy -- the sun. Each kWh purchased is priced at a premium of $0.166 plus tax, in addition to your normal monthly charges. You can choose 50 percent or 100 percent of your monthly usage.*
