 Application Tips

The application tips below can help you speed up the rebate process.

Verifying Equipment SEER and EER
It's very important to verify that the equipment you are considering purchasing qualifies for a rebate by checking both the SEER and EER ratings found in the AHRI Unitary Directory of Certified Product Performance.

To verify the SEER and EER rating, follow these steps:

  1. Ask your APS Rebate Eligible Contractor if you have a heat pump or an air conditioner and if it is a split or package unit.

  2. Ask your contractor to provide the manufacturer and model number for the following items:
    • Outdoor/Condenser unit
    • Indoor/Coil unit
    • Furnace (if needed)

  3. Ask your contractor for the AHRI number of the equipment you are considering.

At this point you have enough information for our AC Experts to verify the equipment's SEER and EER ratings for you. Please call us at (800) 305-0182 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday - Friday. If you want to look the ratings up yourself then go on to the next step.

  4. Look up the SEER and EER ratings for the equipment you are considering at the AHRI Web site.
    • Once on the AHRI website accept the terms and conditions.
    • At the top of the first page, in the Residential box, select either the air conditioners or heat pumps depending on your equipment type.
    • If you have the AHRI number enter it to the box titled "AHRI Reference Number" and hit enter. A SEER and EER rating table will be displayed.
    • If you don't have the AHRI number then enter the outdoor unit model number in the box with the same name.
    • Enter the indoor unit model number and the furnace model number, if applicable. Select enter to view a chart with the SEER and EER ratings for your equipment. You can view the the ARI Certificate by clicking on the line with the results.
    • If no results are received, try entering the first five digits (including any dashes) from each of the model numbers.
    • If you have any difficulty, or just want to confirm that your unit meets the required ratings, call our AC experts at (800) 305-0182 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday - Friday.

Other Application Tips

  • Your unit(s) must be installed by an APS Rebate Eligible Contractor to qualify for a rebate.

  • Ask your contractor to complete the APS Quality Installation Test Results form (part of the application) and attach it to the rest of the application.

  • Ask your contractor to document the installation or job completion date and the model numbers of the unit(s) installed on your invoice.

  • Document the actual address(es) where the equipment was installed. If multiple units were installed at various addresses, ask your contractor to specify the location of each on your invoice(s). You will need to submit a separate rebate application for each unit at each location.

  • Attach the proof of payment and invoice (not a job proposal) to the rebate application form.

  • Ask your contractor to provide their valid contractor license number on the invoice.

  • Provide your name, your e-mail address and your contact phone number on the application form.

  • Mail your rebate application promptly. It must be mailed within 6 months of the equipment’s installation date as stated on your invoice.

If you need additional assistance, contact our AC experts at (800) 305-0182 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday - Friday. Please have your model numbers available.

More information and free referrals to an APS Qualified Contractor are available onlineby e-mail or by calling (602) 371-3636 or (888) 890-9730 outside metro-Phoenix. The APS Rebate Eligible Contractor list includes the name and phone number of all of the contractors that can offer the APS AC Rebate and also indicates if they are also an APS Qualified Contractor.
