Incentives for Solar Daylighting

Solar daylighting allows you to capture the light of the sun to illuminate your building instead of using artificial lighting that uses electricity. The system lets you take advantage of free lighting from the sun without adding the its heat.

When you install a solar daylighting device you may qualify for an up-front incentive (UFI) to help cover part of your purchase and installation costs. Your installer will most likely be familiar with the incentive process and equipment qualifications but you should familiarize yourself as well.

Getting Started:

  1. Complete and submit a reservation packet which includes:
  2. Receive Reservation Confirmation
APS will send you written notification once your request is approved or denied.  A signed amended incentive reservation application is required to make changes to your initial application.  APS will provide written acceptance or denial of the amended application.

  3. Proof of Advancement
Within 120 days after funds have been reserved for your incentive, you (or your installer) will need to mail documentation showing the project is advancing which includes an Energy Savings & Designed Output (ES&D) report, applicable municipal permits, design drawings, and commitments to procure system equipment.

  4. Proceed with installing the solar daylighting system

  5. Submit a “commissioning packet” which should consist of:
    • Signed Acceptance and Installation Certification (“Commissioning Form”)
    • Receipt confirming cost, payment, and installation by an AZ licensed contractor.
    • Copy of the clearance issued by the city or county or box checked on Commissioning Form stating that there is no city or county clearance required for the installation site.

  6. Receive incentive payment from APS

Upon receipt of the Commissioning Packet and verification that requirements in the Incentive Agreement have been met, APS will issue an incentive check.

The Reservation Packet and Commissioning Packet must be submitted by mail to the address listed below. Faxed documents cannot be accepted.
