Incentives for Non-Residential Solar Water Heating Systems

It's more affordable than ever for your business to take advantage of the Arizona sun to help meet part, or all, of your hot water needs. Not only can these systems reduce the amount of energy you use from APS, but if designed properly they may also lower your peak usage and subsequent demand charges.

How these types of systems work:
Solar water heaters typically take the form of either a system of evacuated tubes used to absorb heat from the sun or parabolic troughs that reflect the sun's energy onto a pipe containing a transfer fluid. That stored thermal energy (heat) can then be used to heat water that is used by employees or in any number of manufacturing processes.

Available Incentives:

APS incentives for solar water heating can be paid as either a  Production Based Incentive (PBI) based on the actual production of your system or as an Up-Front Incentive (UFI),  as defined in the APS Renewable Energy Incentive Chart.

UFI payments are calculated using the estimated kWh savings the system provides. For larger systems, savings are based on the "OG-100" performance rating of the equipment as published by the Solar Rating and Certification Corporation (SRCC). The kWh savings for smaller systems are based on the SRCC "OG-300" performance rating for that particular model.

Getting Started:

Production Based Incentives for Solar Water Heating Systems

Up-Front Incentives for Small Solar Water Heating Systems (OG-300 rated)

Up-Front Incentives for Large Solar Water Heating Systems (OG-100 rated)
