APS Incentives for Biomass and Biogas Energy

Biomass and biogas are not new to the U.S. In fact, they make up some of the most utilized renewable resources. Each year 60 million tons of biomass material is used to produce approximately 37 billion kWh of electricity in an environmentally friendly way. It is also one of our most readily available renewable resources in Arizona.

Only systems installed within APS territory are eligible for these incentives.

What is Biomass and Biogas energy?
Biomass is made up of material such as trees, plants and agricultural crops. It is a renewable resource that can either be used as a solid fuel or changed into a liquid or gas to be used in the production of electricity or heat.

Will Biomass and Biogas work for me?
For more detailed information on how wind energy works and guidance to see if biomass or biogas energy makes sense for you, see the U.S. Department of Energy’s report, A Geographic Perspective on the Current Biomass Resource Availability in the U.S.

What steps do I need to take?

Incentives for Electricity Generators
Incentives for Thermal Systems
Incentives for Heat and Power Systems (CHP)

*The renewable incentive program is funded by APS customers and is approved by the Arizona Corporation Commission.
