When you install a PV system, it can either be tied to the APS power grid (“grid tied”) or installed as a stand alone system (“off-grid”). With a grid tied system, you can still draw electricity from the APS grid when your PV system is not producing enough energy to meet your needs. Off-grid systems may make more sense in more remote locations.
Grid tied customers
New PV systems installed within the APS service territory and tied to the APS grid can receive a one-time incentive of up to $3 per installed DC watt. When you combine these APS incentives with Federal and State tax credits of 30% and 25% respectively, well over half of the cost of your system can be paid for (Arizona state tax credit is capped at $1,000).

Off grid customers
PV systems located within the APS service territory but that are not tied to the APS grid (“off-grid”) may qualify for up to $2 per installed DC watt. When you combine these APS incentives with Federal and State tax credits of 30% and 25% respectively, well over half of the cost of your system can be paid for (Arizona state tax credit is capped at $1,000).
