Other Revenue Streams

Solana’s construction and operation will lead to significant tax increases for local communities and the state. Early estimates point to $300 million to $400 million per year in sales, use, property and income taxes from the plant. These revenue streams can be used to expand Arizona’s infrastructure, invest in education and generally support the development of sustainable communities.

The concentrated solar power industry presents another unique opportunity which is not paralleled by other conventional or renewable generating technologies. Concentrated solar power is in the earliest stages of significant growth and expansion in the United States. Many of the components used in these plants are heavy, relatively fragile and difficult to transport.

None of those components are currently manufactured in the U.S. on a scale large enough to support the development expected from concentrated solar technologies. As a result, the manufacturers of these components are exploring local supplier and manufacturing opportunities in the southwest to reduce the costs of shipping, shorten lead times and reduce the risk of transport. This provides Arizona an opportunity to build additional industries within the state and expand its manufacturing capabilities.
