Sundance to Pinal South (Central) 230kV Transmission Project
As part of APS’ continuing effort to meet the increasing demand for electricity, the APS Transmission and Facility Siting Department conducted a process to identify possible alternative routes for a new 230 kilovolt (kV) transmission line to connect the Sundance Generating Station and the future Pinal South Substation (now referred to as the Pinal Central Substation). APS received a Certificate of Environmental Compatibility (CEC) from the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) in April 2008.
The proposed project will accomplish the following objectives:
-
Increase local capacity, which will improve the reliability and continuity of service for the electrical load in the area.
-
Allow APS to schedule the full output capability of the Sundance facility.
-
Economically provide a new 230kV path for existing and potential future generation at the Sundance facility.
For questions regarding the completed line siting process and the CEC issued for the project, please contact Brad Larsen, APS Transmission and Facility Siting Project Manager at (602) 493-4338. Questions on land acquisition should be directed to Mike Bouche, APS Land Agent at (602) 371-7033. If you have construction or shedule related questions please contact the Construction Project Manager, Debi Sarceda at (602) 328-1884.
