TS-5 TO TS-9 500kV/230kV

Transmission Line Project

State Application Filed with the Arizona Corporation Commission

Arizona Public Service Company filed an application for a Certificate of Environmental Compatibility (CEC) with the Arizona Corporation Commission on July 1, 2008. The application is a result of nearly a year of reviewing comments from officials, residents and affected stakeholders along with performing environmental and technical analyses on nearly 400 miles of potential alternatives. APS' application includes the selection of a preferred route along with three acceptable alternatives. The route that is ultimately selected will connect the previously approved TS-5 (Sun Valley) substation in Buckeye with the previously approved TS-9 substation in Peoria.

Copies of the complete CEC can be viewed publically at the following locations:

  • Buckeye Public Library located at 310 North 6th Street in Buckeye
  • Peoria Public Library located at 8463 West Monroe Street in Peoria

The Legal Notice for this project has been included under the Latest Infomation Section, below,  and provides details of the routes and corridors being noticed. The notice also includes information on the first and second round of public hearings that will be held on August 18 and 19, and September 8 and 9. The hearings will be held at the Marriott Renaissance located at 9495 West Coyotes Blvd. in Glendale. Hearings will begin at 9:30 a.m. each morning. Public comment will be taken at the beginning of each meeting and an evening pubic comment session will be held on August 18 beginning at 6 p.m.

APS will continue to take public input on the project. You are encouraged to submit any comments you may have on the selection of the preferred and alternative routes. You may also call the Project Manager, Mike DeWitt, directly at (602) 493-4446 with any questions.
