Transmission and Facility Siting - Completed Projects

Palo Verde® Hub to North Gila 500kV
Transmission Line Project

The Arizona Corporation Commission granted APS a Certificate of Environmental Compatibility (CEC) for the Palo Verde Hub to North Gila 500kV Transmission Project on Jan. 15, 2008. The CEC allows APS to begin the right-of-way acquisition and permitting process for the new power line and substations. Right-of-Way will be acquired within the certificated corridor and is expected to begin immediately. A copy of the approved Commission Order and the corridor map can be viewed below under latest news and project maps.

This project is expected to be in service by 2012.

This project will provide the electrical transmission infrastructure to import additional generation resources from the power plants in and around the Palo Verde Hub into the high-growth Yuma area. The project will also improve the reliability of the APS electric system by providing an additional high-voltage transmission source to that region.

Please send us your comments or call Paul Herndon, APS Project Manager, at (623) 932-6729. You can also call the project telephone information line at (888) 206-6166 for more information on the project.
