Getting a home performance checkup is a great way to identify opportunities to improve the comfort, efficiency and safety of your home.

request a checkup
Request a Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® checkup for just $99 (a $400 value) and receive a customized list of suggested energy efficiency upgrades from your participating contractor. These upgrades can help save up to 30% on your energy bill.

A national program created by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Home Performance with Energy Star is a “whole house” approach designed to provide energy efficient recommendations and improvements that can help you save energy and money. Specially trained contractors can diagnose your home and identify energy-saving improvements to:

  • reduce hot/cold spots and balance temperatures year round
  • make your home more energy-efficient and save you money
  • identify ways to improve the health, safety and indoor air quality of your home
getting started
  1. Perform your home checkup.
  2. Choose your upgrades.
  3. Complete work.
  4. Apply for rebates.
rebates & eligiblity

Sign up for a comprehensive home assessment and gain access to special rebates.

Your participating contractor will help identify eligible rebates of up to $1,000 for qualifying home improvements. You may qualify for $250 in rebates for each of the following:

ductwork
Optimize the air flow to all rooms when you seal your home’s leaky ducts with astic or aerosol-based sealant and balance the duct system. Almost 15% of cooling energy is wasted because of duct leakage.

air leaks
Doors and windows can be hotspots for leaks, but often more air escapes through attic penetrations, electrical outlets and lighting fixtures. Sealing air leaks is a critical step to improving your home’s comfort and energy efficiency.

insulation
Properly insulating your attic saves energy, improves comfort and helps balance temperatures throughout your home, especially when combined with sealing air leaks. Your participating contractor may recommend repairs to existing insulation or adding insulation.

shade screens
As of March 1, 2013, shade screen rebates are no longer available. If you installed your eligible shade screens before March 1, 2013, you may still apply for a rebate.

upgrade lighting & appliances
Energy used for lighting and appliances can account for half of your home’s utility bill. Your participating contractor may recommend ENERGY STAR® qualified products including:
  • refrigerators
  • dishwashers
  • electronic equipment
  • light fixtures
  • CFLs
  • hot water heating systems
Any combination of these measures will help maximize your home’s efficiency. To further reduce your energy bills, consider adding renewable energy like solar roof panels or solar hot water.
