New AC units are 40 to 50% more efficient than those installed 15 years ago. Since summer cooling costs account for up to 40% of your annual electric bill, using an old AC could mean you’re spending too much.

Is your air conditioner more than 10 years old? If you’re planning to replace your existing system, you could be eligible for $270 in rebates. Just have a Participating Contractor replace your old system with a new, energy-efficient system installed in accordance with our quality installation standards.

Insist on quality installation of your cooling equipment. Studies show that half of all central air conditioners in U.S. homes never perform to their advertised capacity because they’re installed incorrectly.

The energy consumption of high efficiency AC units installed through the APS AC rebate program was measured against other units, and the results were dramatic. Units installed through our rebate program had:
 
  • 20% more annual cooling energy savings for a typical year
  • 13% more cooling peak demand savings for a typical year
APS and the participating contractors in this program generated higher participation and higher customer savings compared to other quality installation programs in the U.S.

how it works

  1. Confirm your eligibility.
  2. Schedule an appointment with a participating contractor. Email us or call 602-371-3636 (metro Phoenix area) or 888-890-9730 (outside Phoenix) for a free referral of up to 3 qualified contractors.
your participating contractor’s role
Work with your participating contractor to:
  • ensure your new system is installed to our quality installation standards
  • complete the rebate application and send it to us
Mail your rebate application form within 6 months to:

eligibility
To qualify for a rebate, have your equipment installed by a participating contractor in accordance with the our quality installation standards.​
 
  • current customer
  • submit rebate application form within 6 months of installation date
  • new installation replacing an existing heat pump or AC
  • install main components within 5 days of each other
Rebate amounts are per unit for residential systems. A maximum of 5 units per home qualify. The rebate applies to whole-house heat pumps and AC systems; window units and mini-splits do not qualify.

Our participating contractors are licensed, bonded, insured and committed to rigorous ongoing training.
 
Many participating contractors are also qualified contractors and:
  • are members of the Arizona Heat Pump Council
  • are vetted by the Better Business Bureau and Arizona Registrar of Contractors 
  • signed performance pledges and participate in a customer dispute resolution process

Participating contractors ensure airflow and refrigerant charge are correct. This will save you money.
