To quote the American Forestry Association; “An oak or maple is capable of living up to 400 years in a forest, up to 80 years in a sheltered corner of a college campus, up to 30 years in a heavily used city park, up to 18 years along a suburban street and about 4 years in a downtown planting pit.” These are alarming statistics and arborists need your help to care for trees.
As a national leader in urban forestry and environmental stewardship APS understands the value and benefits that trees provide for our urban environments. Arboricultural research is the means through which we can ensure healthy trees for future generations. Arborists require an intimate knowledge of how trees grow, how they react to pests and environmental changes, how to select the most appropriate species, how to care for trees in general and how to keep themselves safe during their work.
APS strives to develop and maintain relationships with other green industry organizations that help us to provide our customers and employees with a wide range of resources. One such resource is the Tree Research and Education Endowment Fund (TREE Fund).
The TREE Fund works closely with the International Society of Arboriculture and the Tree Care Industry Association and others to fund research and educational projects. The TREE Fund is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization dedicated to identifying and funding projects and programs that advance knowledge in the field of arboriculture and urban forestry to benefit people, trees and the environment. The Fund is in a position to make great strides in finding new solutions to developing and maintaining the urban forest.
