Arizona homes use more energy in summer

The hot Arizona climate significantly impacts the amount of energy used. A typical home in the Phoenix and low desert areas will experience the following increases:

  • up to 65% from April to May
  • up to 50% from May to June
  • up to 10% from June to July
  • up to 8% to 10% in August.

Homes with gas appliances will experience about the same dollar increases, but because the April bills are typically lower, the percent increase will be higher.

It's an Arizona fact of life. Summers are hot. It takes a lot of energy to cool the home. We have tips to help manage your summer bills.
