Time Advantage 7 p.m. - Noon Rate Plan

If you use significantly more energy on weekends, during evening or morning hours (more than 75 percent) than during on-peak hours (noon to 7 p .m. Monday - Friday), our Time Advantage 7 p.m. - noon plan may be best for you.

Electricity used during off-peak hours costs less than on-peak hours on this plan. If you are a Standard plan customer who lives in a home that is 1,100 sq. ft. or larger, typically use more than 1,000 kWh/month, and can shift energy to off-peak hours (more than 75 percent), you are more likely to lower your bill through the Time Advantage 7 p.m. - noon plan. Your savings will increase as the percentage of electricity you use during off-peak hours increases.

Here is a detailed comparison of our rate plans. Or, you can compare sample calculations of this Time Advantage 7 p.m. - noon plan with the similar Time Advantage  9 p.m. - 9 a.m. plan (both summer and winter months):

Things to consider when choosing this plan:

  • The plan has a longer off-peak period (7 p.m. to noon, Monday - Friday) compared to our Time Advantage 9 p.m. - 9 a.m. plan, but has a higher cost during the summer for both on-peak and off-peak hours. You can compare the sample calculations above.
  • If you are already saving on one of the 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. rate plans, and can shift even more of your energy usage to off-peak hours, especially during summer months, you may be able to lower your bill.
  • On this plan, six holidays are considered to be off-peak all day long.

The Time Advantage 7 p.m. - noon plan may be best for you if:

  • The APS meter readers have safe on-going unlimited access and can physically touch the meter each month.
  • You have minimal daytime energy usage between noon and 7 p.m. (Monday - Friday), especially during the summer months.
  • You can operate your major electric equipment (water heater, pool pump, spa heater) with a timer set to run only during off-peak hours.
  • You use your dishwasher, washer, dryer and range mostly during off-peak hours.
  • You have a programmable thermostat and set your air conditioning to a warmer temperature during on-peak hours to take best advantage of the rate.

If you are eligible for this rate plan and choose to switch to this plan, it will require a meter exchange. APS must be able to physically change out the meter. The lead-time required for a meter exchange will vary based on meter equipment availability and scheduling.

As with all of our residential rate plans, you should remain on this plan for one year.
