North Central 69kV / 230kV Transmission Line Project
APS completed the public process and environmental studies for this project in March of 2001. Newsletter #4 (see link below) contains a map with general locations and a description of the 69kV facilities to be constructed. This project also identified a portion of the 230kV route that later became the North Valley 230kV Project.
APS has completed the construction of approximately 50 percent of the facilities identified in this study and work on the remaining lines/substations will begin soon. Construction of a new 69kV line along 7th Avenue north of Carefree Highway and continuing east along Desert Hills Drive is expected to begin in January 2012. Planned 69kV lines going south and east of the future Scatter Wash Substation (Approximately Happy Valley Road & Central Ave.) are currently planned for construction in the 2013 - 2015 time frame.
